Creativity fosters innovation...
We foster creativity.
Who we are
Creative Turnstile was founded by USC Professor Joe Priester, Improvisation Instructor Rob Watzke and Story Consultant Patrick Wiegers. The three have a combined total of over sixty years teaching experience.
Joe Priester has a PhD in Social Psychology. He teaches and conducts research on Creativity at the University of Southern California, where his MBA elective, Fostering Creativity, has won awards for teaching excellence and innovation. He has practiced mindfulness meditation for over 30 years and yoga for over 20. He combines this experience with academic research findings in order to help others foster their own creativity. He receives his greatest inspiration from watching his five year old create her own world of imagination and learning.
Rob Watzke has been performing and teaching improvisational theatre for over 30 years. He has taught workshops at the American Conservatory Theatre, Walt Disney Studios, USC Marshall School of Business, SAG-AFTRA, UCLA Performing Arts Intensive, and many others. He is also founder of Turbine Arts Collective, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the exploration of creativity. He teaches weekly workshops, and performs with guests like Helen Hunt and Jason Alexander. As a filmmaker, he has won awards from the Producers Guild, Webby Awards, and numerous film festivals.
Patrick Wiegers is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Communications and Theatre Arts. While working on the desks of several showrunners at Warner Brothers and Spelling Television, Patrick read and analyzed thousands of scripts, started writing his own material and sold scripts to TNT and USA Network. He is a certified grant writer and now works with a local, non-profit search-and-rescue team. He works as a script analyst and guest teaches creative writing at the USC Marshall School of Business and Turbine Arts Collective. He is a member of the WGAW.
